Birmingham Business School (BBS) of UOB was established in 1902 and is both a leading global teaching school and a renowned centre for academic research. The BBS works with a range of business and public sector organisations across the world. The School benefits from a highly international Advisory Board made up of chief executives and senior industry figures from around the world. With over 100 lecturing and research staff, many internationally recognised authorities in their fields, BBS research contributes to academic debates world-wide. It undertakes projects funded by the Research Councils, major trusts, professional institutions, government departments and the EU. BBS faculty are consulted by the media, industry and Government on a range of issues. Staff in the school have been highly active in research on industrial and regional policy, economic restructuring, creative and cultural economies, clusters, FDI and economic development over many years. Staff at the school played a key role in setting up and coordinating the European Network on Industrial Policy (EUNIP-FP4), have been co-organisers of several EUNIP conferences which are still on-going long after the FP grant ended. The BBS also hosted the EUNIP 2004 International Conference.
