The Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA) is a multi-disciplinary institute at UAB in Spain, dedicated to the advancement of the environmental sciences. The Institute promotes basic and applied research into environmental processes, social-economic causes and impacts of environmental change, and environmental policy and strategies for environmental innovation. ICTA hosts more than 50 researchers with connections to 20 different departments of UAB. The Institute runs various Master and Doctoral programmes in Environmental Sciences, and delivers more than 10 PhD theses per year. ICTA is formally embedded into the Sciences Faculty at UAB and provides space for full-time researchers, postdocs, PhD students and visiting professors.

Within ICTA, The Ecological Economics and Integrated Assessment Group (, which has been officially recognized with a grant from the Catalan regional government), hosts 8 senior researchers (four full professors), 5 associated researchers, and more than 25 junior researchers (mostly PhD students). The group covers expertise in economics, geography, sociology, business administration, innovation studies, environmental history, and energy studies. It uses a range of research approaches, including economic (policy) modelling, integrated environmental-economic modelling, multi-criteria evaluation, political ecology, multi-scale integrated assessment and evolutionary modelling.
