WWWforEurope in Brno on Nov. 22nd

Karl Aiginger from the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) will hold a key note address on ”Europe needs a new strategy and a better governance“ at the International Conference ”Political Economy of Eurozone Crisis: Is Fiscal Union Feasible?” in Brno. The conference will take place on 22th – 23th November. Scientist from whole Europe and the USA will exchange strategies and ideas how to deal with the financial crisis of the European Economic and Monetary Union.[more]

Workshop results: European Governance and the Problems of Peripheral Countries

On July 12th and 13th a WWWforEurope workshop, organised by the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) in Vienna, brought together prominent researchers and policy advisors to discuss the challenges the euro crisis poses for European Institutions and for peripheral regions or countries. Among the speakers were Stefano Micossi, former EU-Commissioner and General Director of ASSONIME, a business association in Rome, Roger Liddle, Member of the House of Lords and chairman of the think tank Policy Network, and the economist Philippe Aghion, professor at Harvard University. Experts from Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal and Spain presented their contributions to the topic. Workshop: European Governance and the Problems of Peripheral Countries

The WWWforEurope workshop on July 12th and 13th, 2012, organised by the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) in Vienna, will bring together researchers to discuss the challenges the euro crisis poses for European Institutions and for peripheral regions or countries. Keynote speaker is Stefano Micossi, former EU-Commissioner and General Director of ASSONIME, a business association in Rome. Experts from Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal and Spain will (also) present their views. The Workshop will be held at WIFO in Vienna.

Start-Up Workshop

The project's Start-Up Workshop took place on April 17th and 18th 2012 in Vienna. It was a well organised big workshop with about 80 persons representing all 33 partners. Special guests from the European Commission were the Project Officer Domenico Rossetti di Valdalbero and his Head of Unit Robert Burmanjer. Topics were the project from the EC perspective, the discussion of all research areas and the linkages among them, dissemination and project management.
