"The development of cities is subject to cycles, which are influenced by economic, social, ecological, and infrastructural parameters. The development of population density, the availability of infrastructures or the connection to larger networks are relevant determining factors for urban development. With a series of current challenges in the background, such as demographic change, international migration, worldwide economic developments as well as climate change and energy efficiency, it is time to rethink of the city of the future."
Margit Noll has been with the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology in several positions since 1998. She has 15 years’ experience in research management and strategy development. Before taking over Corporate Strategy at AIT she was concerned with the strategic development and international project development of the electric drives unit at AIT as well as working on innovation management. Besides that, Margit Noll is representing AIT in different national and European associations, e.g. the Austrian Mobile Platform. Since 2009 she has been involved in particular in the development of the Joint Programming Initiative Urban Europe. As Chair of the Management Board she is in charge of the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda and its implementation. She holds a PhD in physics and an MBA in general management.
