European Forum Alpbach

The European Forum Alpbach (EFA) is an interdisciplinary platform for science, politics, business and culture. Since 2012, Franz Fischler has been its President. Every year since 1945, the European Forum Alpbach has been held in the Tyrolean mountain village of Alpbach. For almost three weeks Alpbach becomes the village of thinkers or, as Otto Molden, the founder of the Forum, called it, the “other magic mountain”.

Speakers and participants from all parts of the world, from science, economics and politics, experts, decision-makers and students, come together in Alpbach to discuss current issues and to formulate interdisciplinary solutions. The open character of the events promotes a climate of tolerance for different opinions and contributes to overcoming national, ideological and disciplinary boundaries in a peaceful manner.

More than 3,000 people from over 60 countries follow the invitation to the EFA every year. The Forum is open to all those who are interested, and the events are held in German or in English. The EFA connects international decision-makers from all sectors of society with an interested audience and committed young people. Its goal is to create a dialogue across the generational, ideological and other lines that divide us.

The European Forum Alpbach promotes the creation of a democratic society that is ready for the future. Its events provide momentum for the development of European integration.
