Liberté, Égalité, Fragilité – WWWforEurope at the INET Conference 2015
WWWforEurope at the 6th INET Annual Conference 2015
Conference topic: Liberté, Égalité, Fragilité
Paris, France, 8-11 April, 2015
WWWforEurope coordinator and director of WIFO Karl Aiginger attended the annual conference of the Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET) in Paris, which this year was held under the motto "Liberté, Égalité, Fragilité". INET was founded by George Soros and aims at radically rethinking economics, including ecological boundaries of the planet and the uneven distribution of wealth and income in economic thought.
Karl Aiginger, together with Catherine L. Mann (OECD), Richard Portes (Centre for Economic Policy Research), Martin Wolf (Financial Times), and Charles Goodhart (London School of Economics), took part in the panel on Budget Deficits, Austerity, and Deflation.
WWWforEurope researcher Wilfried Altzinger took part in a panel on teaching economics. Other attendants at the INET conference included Joseph Stiglitz, OECD Secretary-General José Ángel Gurría, and the Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis.
