FairTax – Revisioning the "Fiscal EU": Fair, Sustainable, and Coordinated Tax and Social Policies

Partners in the tax research project at the Startup-Workshop

First considerations on the contribution of tax policy at the national and the EU level to sustainable growth and development in Europe developed within WWWforEurope will be carried on and deepened in an Horizon 2020 project just started: Margit Schratzenstaller, deputy coordinator of WWWforEurope, is involved as partner in the four-years-EU FP8 project "FairTax" coordinated by Åsa Gunnarsson at the University of Umeå and will coordinate a work package on options for EU taxes.

At a workshop in Florence organised by the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies at the European University Institute in April, Margit Schratzenstaller exchanged views on the need and options for EU taxes as “true” own resources for the EU with researchers and political representatives from EU member states and the EU level, among them Mario Monti, chair of the High-Level Working Group on Own Resources, Jacques Le Cacheux of  the OFCE, Jorge Nunez Ferrer of CEPS, Gregory Claes of the Bruegel think tank, Brussels, and Monica Frassoni and Alain Lamassoure of the European Parliament.
