8th FIW Research Conference

WWWforEurope at the 8th FIW Research Conference

Conference topic: International Economics

Vienna, Austria, December 3-4, 2015

Programme

At the 8th FIW Research Conference in Vienna on December 3rd and 4th, 2015, Margit Schratzenstaller, Deputy Coordinator of WWWforEurope, had the chance to discuss the Juncker Plan with Pedro de Lima of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Mario Holzner (WIIW), Alexander Kritikos (DIW) and Michael Losch (Austrian Federal Ministry for Science, Research and Economy).

She stressed the importance of using the newly-established European Fund for Strategic Investment (EFSI) as a tool to further sustainable development in Europe by prioritising intangible investment projects supporting a socio-ecological transition - for example green R&D expenditures or investment in education. A central precondition to spur public sustainability-supporting investment would be to promote, use and stretch the flexibility clause of the Fiscal Pact.
