WWWforEurope at the Young Economists Conference - The Future of Capitalism

Conference topic: The Future of Capitalism. Development, Un(der)development and Inequality

Vienna, Austria, 24-25 September, 2014

The Viennese Chamber of Labour conference titled "The Future of Capitalism" aims to bring together young and senior economists who address issues of growth, inequality and employment in non-mainstream strands of economic thinking. The two day conference was held in Vienna on the 24th and 25th of September. Find the programme here (PDF).

Asjad Naqvi, post-doc researcher in the WWWforEurope project at the Institute for Ecological Economics, Department of Socioeconomics, Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU), presented a stock-flow consistent demand-driven model that links economic activity with the environmental physical stocks. The model explores innovation scenarios that can result in stable growth outcomes while also tackling issues of inequality and emissions. For his paper "Climate Change and Growth – An Integrated Approach to Emissions, Production, Distributions, and Employment", Asjad Naqvi received the Eduard März Prize. The presentation and paper can be found here.
