The Role of Regions in Shaping Socio-Ecological Transition in the EU

The WWWforEurope project organised a special session on the role of regions in sustainable development at the 54th Congress of the European Regional Science Association Congress in St. Petersburg, Russia. At this special session both partners from the WWWforEurope project team as well as international experts presented and discussed their research. The contributions presented included papers by Marina van Geenhuizen and Qing Ye on “Cities as seedbeds for sustainable innovation and pathways to transition“, Peter Huber, Petr Rozmahel, Jürgen Bierbaumer-Polly on the “Effects of integration policies on the sustainability of the Euro”, Klaus Nowotny on “Institutions and the location decisions of highly skilled migrants to Europe” and Jesus Crespo Cuaresma, Gernot Doppelhofer, Philipp Piribauer, and Florian Huber on “Projecting income growth in Europe at the regional level”. The contributions and comments of the participants external to the project team will enrich and add to the policy conclusions of the WWWforEurope project.
